Spoon Carving Taster Sessions at The Sill 2020 - see below for dates
ALL COURSES ARE CURRENTLY POSTPONED DUE TO COVID 19 VIRUS. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED PLEASE SEND ME A MESSAGE THROUGH THIS WEBSITE OR EMAIL ME AT: STEVE@NORTHERNWOODMONKEY.COM
Come along and learn safe knife skills in a comfortable environment and make your own wooden spoon.
No previous woodworking experience is necessary, though those with knowledge of working with wood will still find fresh challenges in the hand-carved spoon.
The joy of spoon carving is that we don't need expensive tools, workshops and workbenches. Just our hands and a few simple tools. You will develop skills to take away with you to be able to carve at home, sat outside on warm summers evenings or in front of the fire on those chilly winter nights.
You will learn safe grips and cutting techniques with both a straight and bent (hook) knife which are the two that we use to make the spoon.
The sessions take place at The Sill, National Landscape Discovery Centre, Bardon Mill, Northumberland, NE47 7AN and run for 2 hours, beginning at either 10 am or 1 pm.
