Come along and learn safe knife skills in a comfortable environment and make your own wooden spoon.

No previous woodworking experience is necessary, though those with knowledge of working with wood will still find fresh challenges in the hand-carved spoon.

The joy of spoon carving is that we don't need expensive tools, workshops and workbenches. Just our hands and a few simple tools. You will develop skills to take away with you to be able to carve at home, sat outside on warm summers evenings or in front of the fire on those chilly winter nights.

You will learn safe grips and cutting techniques with both a straight and bent (hook) knife which are the two that we use to make the spoon.

The sessions take place at The Sill, National Landscape Discovery Centre, Bardon Mill, Northumberland, NE47 7AN and run for 2 hours, beginning at either 10 am or 1 pm.

Dates for 2020 are:

2nd May 10am - 12.30pm
19th July 10am - 12.30pm and 1pm - 3.30pm
6th September 10am - 12.30pm and 1pm - 3.30pm
5th December 10am - 12.30pm and 1pm - 3.30pm

All tools and materials supplied - sessions run for two hours.

This event is for people aged 18 years and over.
