Kolrosed eating spoons
Another intriguing way to decorate a spoon. This time a Scandinavian technique called 'Kolrosing'
Both spoons are made from Cherry Wood. The woven pattern is first drawn on with pencil then, using the tip of a knife, the lines are shallow cut into the wood, into this a very fine ground charcoal powder is rubbed with walnut oil. It fills the cuts to reveal the design. It is then burnished to make it smooth again. The design is resilient and will happily cope with everyday washing.
A delight at every mealtime in your home and they will develop their own patina as the years go by.
The charcoal is made by us in the woods we manage and supplies the 'kol' of kolrosing
The spoons are 7" (18cm) long and the bowl is 2" (5cm) wide.
